To allow designers to explore the capability of the MAX31855, Analog Devices offers an evaluation kit. It comes with a K-type thermocouple and a corresponding MAX31855. The evaluation kit features a second channel that is populated with support circuitry. The user could provide one of the other supported thermocouple types, a socket, and request a sample of the MAX31855 for that thermocouple type. This allows the engineer to evaluate his exact thermocouple with the MAX31855 without having to write firmware. An evaluation kit for the MAX31850/1 will also be offered.
