In order to give more flexibility to designers, the PCB footprints for the vertical and horizontal mating receptacles are the same. Two of the hold down pads will be unused depending on whether a vertical or horizontal connector is used. Both receptacle types have multiple hold down points which help to increase the retention force to the PCB, and also improve the grounding performance.
