The FI-R series has a wide range of options available to give design flexibility to hardware designers. Twisted discrete wires can be used for a low cost solution, while micro-coaxial wires can be used when controlling EMI is most important. There are also options on the plug connector for no latches, side latches, or a top-center latch. When there is not enough room in a design to access the sides of the connector, a no latch or top-center latch plug will allow the connector be unmated properly. The receptacle is available as a horizontal or vertical mating type. If the receptacle is mounted near the center of a PCB, a vertical mating style may be the only option to allow the connectors to be easily mated without touching, and potentially damaging other components in close proximity.
