The results from the previous example can best be explained by taking a closer look at the various fan types. The forward curved centrifugal blower met the target operating point but the power consumption and noise were both much higher than the backward curved impeller or axial fan solution. The forward curved centrifugal blower was operating outside its peak efficiency range. The non-dimensional performance curves shown indicate the general shape of the performance curves along with the differences in the peak operating range for the various fans types.
