Now let's look at the differences in performance parameters such as torque and efficiency. The first graph shows that the torque developed by a shaded pole AC motor is very low. A single phase PSC motor will develop more torque and allow for more powerful fans. The torque curve for the EC has a linear shape due to the nature of brushless DC motors. Looking at the second graph, it can be seen that the peak efficiency of the different motor types varies significantly. Shaded pole AC motors have lower efficiencies and EC motors have the highest efficiencies.
