24 V Powertrain Centralized Load Dump Suppression

Most commercial vehicles use 24 V powertrain, and the maximum powerline voltage of suppressed centralized load dump is 58 V as US* by the ISO 16750-2 pulse B specification. A jumper-start or withstand voltage of 24 V powertrain is 36 V or 48 V conditioned. The conventional TVS 5KASMC24A in the previous table had a large difference of 5.8 V between the breakdown voltage and clamping voltage, which would cause a failure in cold weather by having lower clamping voltage than suppressed voltage of the alternator output. The XMC7K24CA with 1.5SMC9.1A (or CA) has a 3.7 V difference at a wide temperature range, and it can improve the system’s reliability.
