The CRCW-IF with untrimmed design allows superior pulse handling capability for several pulse applications, including discharge resistor, snubber circuit, and gate resistor where the component acts as a surge protection to the circuitry. The CRCW-IF can handle up to 4kV considering the 1.2 µs/50 µs lighting strike waveform with 2512 case size for resistance values equal to or greater than 10 kΩ. This surge condition is based on the IEC 60115-1 standard, test method 4.27, including five pulses with twelve second interval between pulses. The maximum permissible resistance change after this surge condition is ±1%. The surge curve shown here is available for all cases sizes from 0402 up to 2512.
