The VersaClock™ III family was released to production in mid-2009 and has attained widespread market adoption worldwide. Renesas worked closely with customers to understand which features of previous generation programmable families were liked and which needed improvement, as well as what other features were needed from programmable clock devices, and subsequently delivered VersaClock III. In addition to VersaClock III, Renesas has also released the “LP” family of VersaClock, which is a “low-power” version of the VersaClock III family. Instead of running at a 3.3V core, VersaClock LP runs on a 1.8V core and substantially lowers the overall current consumption to less than one-half that of the VersaClock III family. VersaClock LP is targeted towards battery powered applications where total power consumption is critical. Please visit www.renesas.com/go/versaclockLP for further information.
