The lower voltage derating is much improved over traditional tantalum capacitors, which require 50% derating. This polymer advantage allows designers to select higher capacitance value components within the same form factor as that of traditional tantalum capacitors. Lower profile options can also be selected which will deliver the same capacitance values as traditional tantalum capacitors, but with half the profile height.
