Polymer tantalum capacitors are inherently stable for capacitance over time, temperature, voltage and ripple. However some consideration should be given to capacitance loss for application frequencies approaching 1MHz. With other dielectric solutions, designers must account for these deficiencies in delivered capacitance by adding excessive amounts of name plate capacitance to ensure the power supply meets the minimum requirements of the end product. Polymer tantalum capacitors do not require such over-design efforts, meaning that the designer will place far less name plate capacitance on the board when using this component type.
