If a customer were to use a 105°C T520 at category temperature and voltage the life will be the baseline condition of 2000 hours or 0.2 years. As shown in the charts on this slide, by derating temperature, voltage or a combination of the two will greatly increase the life of a polymer capacitor. For example, if a customer were to use a polymer at 90% of the rated voltage at 45°C, the polymer’s expected lifetime is 4,058 years which is far beyond the life of most hardware.
