At KEMET, the lifetime of the capacitor at category temperature and voltage can be found in the qualification section of the datasheet under Endurance. For KEMET’s commercial grade series, the life is either 2000 hours or 1000 hours. For this example, the engineer will be considering KEMET’s T520 series which is rated to 2000 hours. Because this calculation is based on leakage, it is important to note that the DCL also called leakage is within specification for the 105°C T520 as long as it does not exceed 1.25 times the initial limit.
