KEMET offers unencapsulated and encapsulated SMD Film. Unencapsulated comes in single or jumbo chip and has an acceptable environmental performance in standard applications. They are potentially lower in cost due to small physical sizes. The encapsulated SMD Film is only offered in single chip and is a more protective technology. This technology is very well protected against special or harsh environments. They tend to be larger in size and costs will be higher due to the additional manufacturing process.
