In this agriculture sensor application, a supercapacitor is paired with a solar panel. The solar panel charges during the daytime while the hybrid supercapacitor cell stores energy and provides transmission power at the same time. Alternatively, a lithium-thionyl battery is paired with a supercapacitor. The supercapacitor offers peak power with minimal drain on the battery, extending its life.
