In this application, supercapacitors and hybrids are used to provide energy in combination with solar panels to power asset trackers mounted on containers, train cars, truckloads, agricultural vehicles, and more. Unlike battery-only systems with flammability concerns, thermal runaway, and poor low-temperature performance, supercapacitors or hybrids offer more than ten years of reliable energy storage with no outgassing over a wide temperature range.
