RPR-0720 Miniature Proximity Sensor
The ROHM RPR-0720 sensor features I²C bus compatibility (standard/fast mode), 1.8 V or 3.3 V logic interface support, and a configurable constant-current IrVCSEL driver
The ROHM RPR-0720 compact digital optical proximity sensor (PS) module integrates an infrared VCSEL (IrVCSEL) and an IC with an I²C interface. The device detects nearby objects or human presence by measuring the reflection of infrared light emitted from the VCSEL source.
Key features include I²C bus compatibility (standard/fast mode), support for 1.8 V or 3.3 V logic interfaces, and a configurable constant-current IrVCSEL driver. The sensor offers an adjustable detection range of approximately 1 mm to 15 mm via I²C control and includes an ambient light canceling function for stable operation under varying lighting conditions. A micro-slit structure minimizes internal light leakage, enhancing accuracy in compact designs.
Typical applications include wireless earbuds, hearing aids, smartphones, game devices, wearables, AR/VR systems, and digital cameras.
