This device is targeted at consumer and IoT applications that require ultra-low-power to drive a longer battery life. This sensor provides low power consumption for both six-axis and accelerometer-only operating modes. It also comes with a list of embedded motion features and interrupts to further reduce system power consumption.

The ICM-42670-P device has a configurable host interface that supports I3CSM, I2C, and SPI serial communication, features up to 2.25 Kbytes FIFO, and two programmable interrupts with ultra-low-power wake-on-motion support to minimize system power consumption. Other features include an on-chip APEX motion processing engine for gesture recognition and pedometer, programmable digital filters, and an embedded temperature sensor.

This product also comes with a small Z height of 0.76 mm, making it suitable for form factor-sensitive applications. Consumer products and systems with space constraints can leverage this 20% size reduction for their applications.

The ultra-low-power consumption, small size, and on-chip motion features make it a perfect fit for applications such as wearables, hearables, AR glasses, smart home appliances, and TV remotes.

In addition, the ICM-42670-P supports low gyro and accel sensor noise in this IMU class. It has high stability against temperature, shock (up to 20,000 g) or SMT/bend induced offset, as well as immunity against out-of-band vibration-induced noise.
